It has been months now since the novel Covid-19 (coronavirus) is in news. The latest figures for confirmed cases of coronavirus around the globe are 49.5 million and 1.25 million people died due to coronavirus (as of 7th November 2020). In India, as of November 7, 2020, there are 8.46 million cases confirmed, and around 1, 26,000 people died due to Covid-19. It has become a matter of concern for the people after unlocks but around 77, 65, 966 patients have been cured and discharged in India.

Coronavirus health policy covers the medical expense related to the treatment of COVID-19. The coronavirus is a viral infection, so this insurance protects the policyholder from pre and post-hospitalization expenses within and outpatient expenses, which was incurred on the treating of COVID-19. This health insurance became active from the day the insured gets diagnosed with the diseases.

Types of Coronavirus Health Insurance Plans in India

You can look for a standard coronavirus health insurance policy that covers all hospital expenses that have been incurred during the treatment of coronavirus of the patients. The following are some standardized products that have been launched as per the IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) guidelines. Corona Kavach Policy

This policy is a standard health insurance plan which covers expenses like hospitalization, home care treatment cost, ambulance charge, cost of PPE kits, Medicine, masks, gloves, doctor fees, ICU charges which can be incurred during the treatment of COVID- 19, this types of the plan starts from Rs. 50,000 and maximum go up to Rs. 5 lakhs this plan also include AYUSH Treatment.

Corona Rakshak Policy

This is also known as a COVID-19 specific health Insurance that covers expenses like hospitalization of a minimum of 72 hours and more as per requirement for the treatment, PPE’s, Nebulizer, masks, oxygen cylinder, gloves, oximeter, AYUSH treatment which are limited under another Insurance plan. This plan is available to the individual age group 18-65 with the sum insured minimum of Rs 2.5 lakhs to max Rs. 5 lakhs.
