Breaking: India on edge of validating first set of Covid-19 vaccine: Government

NEW DELHI:

India is on the brink of authorizing its first set of Covid-19 vaccine, health minister Harsh Vardhan asserted while giving prominence to the necessity for an expeditious vaccination campaign to insulate the priority public, valued at around 30 crores.

Addressing the 22nd conference of the High-level Group of Ministers (GoM) on Covid-19 on Saturday, Vardhan pointed upon the requirement to guarantee that people persist to pursue Covid-appropriate manner, encompassing wearing of masks, keeping physical distancing, hand sanitation and giving themselves a Corona test in a symptomatic circumstance.

On Saturday, the cumulative cases of infections in India crossed the one crore mark, however, Covid-19 upswing has declined to 2% and the case casualty percentage is among the lowest in the world at 1.45%. “India’s recovery rate has peaked to 95.46% while the strategy of testing one million samples has decreased the cumulative positivity rate to 6.25%,” Vardhan said.

The conference was also accompanied by external affairs minister S Jaishankar, civil aviation minister Hardeep S Puri, ministers of state Ashwini Kumar Choubey (Health) and Nityanand Rai (Home). Niti Aayog member – health VK Paul, who too listened to the meeting, filled in the GoM that 12 nations have called for India for the supply of Covid-19 vaccines.
