Furthermore, it should be emphasized that both new applicants and those who took the session 1 exam may take the session 2 exams. After the session 2 results, the JEE Main all-India rankings will be released. The applicant’s best two exam results from sessions 1 and 2 will be used.

JEE (Main), the joint entrance examination, consists of two papers. NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/Universities supported/recognized by participating State Governments conduct Paper 1 for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.). JEE (Main) serves as a prerequisite for JEE (Advanced), a test for admission to IITs. For entry into the nation’s B. Arch and B. Planning programs, Paper 2 is administered.

For admissions in the following academic session, the JEE (Main) – 2023 will be held over the course of 02 (two) sessions. Thus, the following advantages will accrue to the candidates:

  • If a candidate is unable to offer their full effort in one attempt, they will be given two chances to enhance their exam marks.
  • Students will gain first-hand experience taking an exam on their first try, and they will learn from their mistakes so they may do better on their second try.
  • Droppers won’t have to squander a whole year because of this, which will lower the likelihood of dropping a year.
  • Any person who missed the exam due to unavoidable circumstances (like the Board exam) won’t have to wait a full year to retake it.
  • A candidate does not have to show up for both Sessions. But if a candidate participates in more than one session, his or her highest performance will be considered.

JEE (Main) – 2023, for starters The first session for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) will take place on January 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31. Session 2 will follow on April 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. In order to prevent the JEE (Main) – 2023 from interfering with the Board exams, which may be held at various times throughout the States/UTs, this is being done. Also held twice a year are Paper 2A and Paper 2B (B. Arch and B. Planning) (January and April 2023).

In order to accommodate the decision of various Boards across the nation about the syllabus reduction, alternatives will be offered in one section of each topic in Paper 1 and Part-I of Paper 2A and 2B. Wherever applicable, the total number of questions (25 each for mathematics, chemistry, and physics) shall stay the same.
