Apple Begins Recruiting Engineers for Preparing 6G

Apple begins engineers to research the standards for 6G, as it targets to get the early lead in the 6G technology. On the company’s job advert explain engineers will work to define system-level concepts; create rapid prototyping platforms and conduct system simulations; develop new algorithms; specify RAN protocols, and contribute to 3GPP development of 6G standards.

According to the job description: “You will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to craft next-generation wireless technology that will have a deep impact on future Apple products.

In this role, you will be at the center of a cutting-edge research group responsible for creating next-generation disruptive radio access technologies over the next decade.”

Apple made it late to the 5G market, only launched the 5G technology in its iPhone 12 range in October 2020.

This is the latest move of Apple towards the development of 6G technology. Apple joined Nokia, Ericsson, Facebook, Google, Version, T-Mobile, and AT&T in Next G Alliance in November 2020 which is part of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS).

According to experts, the 6G rollout will begin around 2030. 6G technology research is in the early-stage intending to achieve 100 times more speed than 5G.
